You can achieve a variety of finishes with plasterboard. From standard wallboard used generally throughout a home to duraline wallboard that is dent-proof or thermal wallboard for that extra warmth or insulation.

We only use the best products and high-quality boards. We can also advise you on different ways to use the boards, as this can have a different outcome for the finish you need.

Here are examples of the type of wall or ceiling boards used and the outcomes you can expect. By using the correct board type and size to suit each project allows for less waste and fewer joins for a neater finish.

Standard wallboards are for general use and can be used throughout the build. They come in various sizes, from 12.5mm – 15mm thick and 2.4m – 3m in height.

Sound block wall boards are used in all areas too. However, these boards are mostly used for party walls (between houses or flats) to reduce noise. They’re also used around the home to reduce noise between floors on the ceilings and rooms. They come in various sizes, from 12.5mm – 15mm thick and 2.4m – 2.7m in height.

Fireline boards are also used for party walls, cladding, flats, and communal areas, any area too that could have a higher risk of heat/fire. These boards are specially designed for extra fire resistance. They come in the following sizes, 12.5mm -15mm thick and 2.4m – 2.7m in height.

Moisture-resistant boards are the correct boards to use in areas such as kitchens, bathrooms, and wet rooms. These boards are specially designed to not allow a build-up of moisture in the walls and they reduce the risk of damp in wet or steamy areas. They come in the following sizes,12.5mm – 15mm thick and 2.4 – 2.7m in height.

Duraline wallboard is highly dense wallboard that is ideal and used mostly in high-traffic areas. Commercial builds, schools, busy communal flat areas, or even residential homes. These boards are extremely tough and dent-proof making them a good choice for these areas. They come in the following sizes, 15mm thick only and 2.4m – 2.7m in height.

Thermaline board has an added layer of insulation to provide warmth and comfort to certain areas in the home or commercial properties, helping to provide extra warmth when needed on certain builds. This helps keep costs down during the winter times by helping clients to save money in the future on fuel bills. They come in the following sizes, 25mm – 90mm thick and 2.4 height only.

Acoustic board is a type of soundproof board, specially designed to keep even the noisiest of sounds contained. Whether the client wants added security for flats or semi-detached houses or musicians in the family home who would like to create a sound booth or music studio, these boards are the ideal choice to really soundproof any room or area. They come in the following sizes, 12.5mm – 15mm thick and 2.4m – 2.7m in height.

As you can see there are many types of boards available for different tasks, by talking through the needs for your project we can assist and advise you on the best products to meet your requirements.

Plastering

This is a method using wet plaster to provide a smooth finish to walls and ceilings ready to decorate.

Tape & Jointing

This is a material specially designed to join each board together creating a continuous smooth straight wall, this covers all the joints leaving no evidence that the wall or ceilings are made up of individual boards.

There are different types of tape used for each area, Flat or internal, or external edge. each one is to make sure the finish is neat and smooth.

Skrim is typically used for straight joins on walls or ceilings. This material has a sticky back mesh and is used to line the join, filler/adhesive is then applied to stick and mold to the mesh join.

The joining adhesive will then be sanded back once fully dried to the boards and this then creates the look of a continuous wall or ceiling.

Internal Corner Paper is used for an internal corner or return in the same way as the scrim this is flexIble and strong, after applying the paper the joining adhesive would then be applied and sanded back again, covering all joins.

External Corner Metal Beads are specially designed mesh metal beads that fit around an external corner. this gives a sharp, neat edge.  This is to give the best finish and harder ware for the work, giving the best protection for the external corners.  As these are made of metal they also provide the fastest finish to the board work. joining adhesive would then be applied and sanded back covering all joins.

Floor Screed

Floor screed is a concrete compound used for floorings, generally, it is poured in using screed pumps and leveled by a screeder as they go. There are many different types of screed and each one has its own purpose. depending on the build or type of finish you would be looking for.

Fiber screed has a minimum of 65mm and made up of sand and cement, this is not self-leveling and will need to be pre-ordered for the day of the lay.  There will also need to be a screed pump and screeders ready to level as it is laid.

Flow Screed has a minimum of 45mm and is made up pretty much the same but this is a wet pour and can be self-leveling, although it is always advised experienced screeders are on-site and managing the pour and checking the leveling too.

All of the above can also be used on underfloor heating and more recently we are noticing on some builds, this kind of finish has become more fashionable.

Cove & Cornice

We can provide a finishing touch with cove and cornice, this can create a lovely ornate or neat finish to the walls. Coving or cornice can come in various materials or sizes.

Partition Walls

These are made up of either masonry (block) or Stud work (timber or metal).  These can then be boarded to the client’s specifications.

Rendering

This is similar to plastering using a wet compound usually containing cement that is then applied to mostly external walls.  This can be used to create a smooth or textured finish.  Some renders can come already coloured to your choice or plain and then painted to finish.

Insulation

Insulation can be placed in various parts of a house or building and comes in many forms depending on its use.  Soft roll insulation- can be used throughout a build this too can be made from many different materials depending on our client’s specifications or need for being eco friendly.  PIR- Celotex or kingpin is made up of hard foam with a foil backing, this would be cut on-site into place.  Again depending on our client’s needs all forms of insulation are greatly used to keep a home or building warm in the winter or cool in the summer.
